ADMINISTRATIVE/BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY:  Liverpool Street Station Campaign (LISSCA) was formed in 1974 and campaigned for conservationist redevelopment at Liverpool Street Station, in opposition to British Rail's proposals to demolish all the buildings and replace them with a new development.

Along with public meetings, petitions and publications, the Campaign also prepared alternative schemes for the rationalisation and expansion of Liverpool Street Station, while maintaining the complex of historic Victorian railway buildings. The Campaign's president was Sir John Betjeman, with Vice-Presidents including Spike Milligan, Patrick Cormack and Andrew Faulds.

SCOPE AND CONTENT:

• Campaign files containing notes, minutes, circulars, correspondence and membership material detailing the activities and campaigning of the organisation, along with papers, cuttings and photographs relating to Liverpool Street Station and material regarding fundraising campaigns, such as the Railwalk in 1976, 1975-1978
