The History of Art: The Renaissance (AC110103)
Painting changed in the 15th century. The Italian architect Brunelleschi ‘discovered’ perspective, Leonardo da Vinci investigated the inner workings of the human body and glimpses of landscape started to appear behind portraits or scenes from the Bible. This accessible course tells the story of ‘The Renaissance’ and introduces us to the great painters of Michelangelo, Raphael and Titian, and from the North, Jan van Eyck and Hans Holbein.
This is one of three courses (The Renaissance, French Impressionists and Modern Art) covering the history of art across three terms. Each course is self-contained and courses may be taken individually or consecutively in any order.
