Film Studies: French Cinema (AC110112)
This course will introduce you to some significant moments in the history of French film, including the invention of cinema as we know it. We will look at the films of Jean Renoir and other grand masters of the ‘Golden Age’, the innovators of la nouvelle vague such as Jean-Luc Godard, the flamboyant cinema du style of Luc Besson, as well as some of French cinema's greatest stars. Films examined will include A bout de souffle, La règle du jeu, Betty Blue and Amélie.
No prior knowledge is required, just an interest in film and an enthusiasm to learn more.
