Centurian Archive
About this Archive
Administrative/Biographical History:
Founded as Spartacus/Centurian in 1969 by Jeri Lee, the fetish fashion catalogue publisher and mail-order marketing company began in Westminster, California with the Spartacus fetish boutique and Custom Shoe Co. Over more than four decades Centurian transformed itself into a formidable cross-dressing slanted magazine publisher. The bi-monthly mainstay title in the Centurian roster Transformation was first printed in the early 1990s. Forced Womanhood, a more explicit quarterly title, joined the Centurian publishing lineup a year later. Enslaved Sissies & Maids, yet another quarterly on the explicit side, was added in 2002.
The company also produced a huge number of catalogues and serials selling fetish wear and equipment, along with erotic fetish content. These included Slave Piercing and the Feminisation of Slaves, Transvestites in Bondage, Whole Catalogs of the Exotic and Bizarre, Rubber Bondage and the Bondage Annual. There were also specific catalogues for boots, shoes, corsets, leather and latex, along with restraints, chastity belts, trainers and gags, and gloves. All of Centurian’s publications included amazing original artwork by Aldo/Tealdo, Bruce Baker, Lou Kagan, Europa, Bishop, TOM and others, photography by Patrick Barnes, along with reproductions of art and photography by Charles Guyette and Eric Stanton.Lee moved to Reno in the 1990s and opened the shop Romantic Sensations in 1996, from where the business was based. In 2011, Lee sold Centurian Publishing to Hanna Rodgers and Centurian/Transformation was born, taking a less explicit direction and focusing on writing, photography and community information. The company closed in 2023 making it the longest-running fetish company in the world. Shortly after, its extensive archive was transferred to the Fetish Archive at Bishopsgate Institute.
