Mark Jackson and Huw Davies Archive
About this Archive
Administrative/biographical history
A year before Spitalfields Market moved to Hackney Marshes, two young photographers, Huw Davies and Mark Jackson, undertook to photograph the workings of the all-night food emporium. The result is a collection of more than 4,000 striking Black and White images. Bishopsgate Institute is the home of this unique and fascinating social documentary collection. The collection also features thousands more pictures featuring London street-life, Blackpool's Golden Mile and the travelling fair season at Hull Fair and Nottingham Goose Fair.
