Nell Myers was born in the USA but was living in London by the mid-1960s. From the early 1970s she was involved in the Women's Liberation Workshop and other campaigns relating to the Women's Liberation Movement in the UK. From 1972 she worked for the National Union of Mineworkers, on its journal, The Miner, and from 1982 to 2002 as the NUM's press officer and assistant to its President, Arthur Scargill.
