Parliamentary Profiles Archive
About this Archive
The Parliamentary Profiles Archive was compiled by Andrew Roth to inform his numerous publications and extensive obituaries. The archive includes over 5,000 files and around half a million press cuttings, and includes a file (or numerous files) on every Member of Parliament, Lord, and MEP from the early 1950s until 2010. This is a valuable resource for anyone looking for a political archive in London.
Each MP's, Lord's, or MEP's file contains Hansard cuttings of every speech or activity in the House of Commons or House of Lords, Early Day Motions, local and national press cuttings from the broadsheets, tabloids and magazines, pamphlets and Roth's own writings and notes.
Furthermore, Roth would also forward drafts of the profiles to each MP and the files contain correspondence concerning corrections, additions, and angry refutations. The files are extensive and provide essential reading for anyone wanting to know about any MP, Lord, or MEP in the post-War era.
The Archive is divided into four series:
- 2005 Series: MPs elected at the 2005 General Election
- Ex-MPs
- Lords
- Members of the European Parliament
