Administrative/biographical history

The Whittington Park Community Association (WPCA) is a community centre located near Whittington Park in Upper Holloway. Initially, the residents had come together in 1972 to campaign against the demolition of houses surrounding Whittington Park. It was during this period that the residents acquired All Saints Church Hall and formed the community centre. The Association was formed by local residents in 1973, achieving charitable status shortly afterwards. The organisation’s remit was extended to include the running of a nursery, clubs for the elderly and a summer festival in the park. The centre continues to organise clubs for children and the elderly, as well as providing a venue for exercise and cultural classes. The WPCA is administered by a Board of Trustees.
