A two-minute walk from Liverpool Street Station, our Grade II* listed building has been a trusted examination venue year after year. We regularly host a number of exam bodies and education providers, including schools and colleges.

Bishopsgate Institute has a longstanding reputation for providing candidates and staff with professional, supported exam environments. Hirers have five spaces to choose from ranging from large Victorian halls to smaller private chambers.

The Great Hall and the Upper Hall are the largest of our exam spaces. Able to accommodate up to 200 candidates for a single-desk examination, these venues are ideal for large-scale school, college, and university exams. Our experience in hosting exams for certifications such as GCSE and A-Level ensures a relaxed, reliable experience for those using our larger spaces. Hire of these rooms also includes access to a supporting Green Room space.

If you are looking for a smaller-scale hire then the Courtyard Room, the Studio, or the Goss Room may be perfect for your requirements. Able to accommodate up to 30 candidates for a single-desk examination, these smaller spaces are ideal for both desk-based exams and more interactive assessments such as music exams or PhD vivas.

Provision and set-up of exam furniture
Secure storage of scripts before and after exams
Clocks, PA system and microphones
Power cabling (for computer exams only)
In-house reception available within your hire period
Script delivery (available before the day of exam)
Piano hire for music exams (available upon request).

We are able to support computer-based exams but don’t provide laptops.

Unfortunately, we do not hire our spaces for classes, public performances, or any activity in conflict with our programme. As we are a charity, our building cannot be used to host party political or religious events.
