Archival Explorations: Zine-Making Workshop
This two-hour workshop with art publishing collective, OOMK (One Of My Kind), will give participants a chance to understand zine-making and its role in both documenting and circulating marginalised legacies.
Who is this course for?
This course is aimed at those who are new to (or curious) about zine-making and/or the exciting collections held at Bishopsgate Institute and would like an introduction to either. We encourage those interested in alternative education, research, and social practice to attend.
What can I expect?
This workshop will include presentations, discussions, and a practical exercise in zine-making. You can expect to engage with a small zine library and collage materials. Each participant can expect to take home copies of their very own zines by the end of the workshop.
If you have hand mobility issues (we will be using scissors) or require large print, please let us know.
Will I need any equipment or materials?
All materials will be provided for you but if you wish you may bring your own stationary or collage/craft paper to use or share (newspapers, stickers, etc).
Are there follow-on courses I can take?
If you enjoyed zine-making, you might like to try an introduction to Risograph printing at OOMK's press, Rabbits Road Press.
