From the world famous bagel shop to the repurposed Truman’s Brewery and the Dew Drop Inn, on this tour you'll discover memories of the Jewish community, with synagogues, the maternity home and the flats where tragedy struck in 1945. Ending at Whitechapel, you will see evidence of the new renaissance of the area.

What can I expect?

This is a walking tour where the guide will lead you through the area. The terrain is flat, so the tour is suitable for those with mobility scooters and wheelchairs. There is disabled access at both stations, but if you would prefer to meet the group at street level, please let Bishopsgate Institute know, and we will arrange accordingly. Please also note that the tour lasts around two hours, with no coffee or loo stops on the walk.

Will I need any equipment or materials?

Comfortable walking shoes. It is always best to have a bottle of water with you too and appropriate clothing for the weather.

Practical information

We regret that, due to the nature of the route, this tour is not accessible to anyone who uses a wheelchair or who is unable to use steps or stairs.

This route will begin outside Shoreditch High Street Overground station.
